Due to the fast galloping population, increasing traffic the space in the city area is shrinking fast and the urban area is modifying its characteristics with high migration rate. The adjoining villages are gradually changing their rural character into urban in all the cities of India and not within limit of well-defined boundary. Consequently this process creates different transitional zones between city and countryside. These transitional zones generally known as peri-urban areas varying in width and nature and have rapid change with increasing population pressure. In the present paper the author try to reveal the various impact of city on its surrounding peri-urban area leading to changes in landuse , social and economic structure of the rural folk living in the peripheral area of the city.
