Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of remote work globally, fundamentally transforming workplace dynamics and human resource management practices. This study examines the multifaceted effects of remote work on employee productivity and well-being across technology and non-technology industries, based on recent empirical research and comparative studies. The analysis reveals that remote work presents a complex paradox: while it enhances productivity in technology sectors through increased autonomy and flexibility, it simultaneously creates psychological challenges such as isolation and work-life boundary blur. Non-tech industries demonstrate more varied outcomes, with productivity gains dependent on task nature and organizational support systems. The study synthesizes findings across 100 plus sources to provide comprehensive insights into productivity drivers, well-being challenges, and evidence-based management practices, while integrating perspectives on sustainable financial behavior, artificial intelligence impacts, and inclusive workplace development. Key findings indicate that success in remote work environments depends critically on organizational support systems, effective digital communication infrastructure, and adaptive HR policies. The research highlights significant disparities between tech and non-tech sectors, influenced by workforce composition, task characteristics, and technological maturity.
